Shahbaz Sharif to ensure conciliation in PML-N Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, Oct 17 (DNA): Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has on Saturday been assigned the daunting task to ensure conciliation between Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Faisalabad leadership. The growing differences between Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah and Chaudhry Sher Ali, father of Federal Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, are hampering PML-N’s chances of securing a victory in the coming local body elections in Faisalabad.

The differences between Chaudhry Sher Ali and Rana Sanaullah are now out in the open and public exchange of harsh words between the two has become a routine, a private television channel reported.

According to PML-N sources, Shahbaz Sharif has been assigned the task to get the two bigwigs of the party to reconcile. The sources say both the leaders are old guards of the party and have sacrificed a lot during Pervez Musharraf’s regime. They said that the party cannot afford to have such differences in one of the party’s strongholds.

The sources in the party said that only the party leadership can assign the tasks to respective leaders in the local body elections and all must work together in order to secure a victory for PML-N in Faisalabad.

The infighting of PML-N has become a real headache for the party leadership during the last few weeks. Even Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have dealt some good verbal blows at each other during the last couple of weeks.

Talking to media in Faisalabad, Chaudhry Sher Ali stated that the party leadership is humiliating their workers using Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. He alleged that Rana Sanaullah has murdered twenty people in Faisalabad.

The former PML-N MNA warned that Sanaullah will not be able to enter Faisalabad without their permission. Criticising the Punjab Chief Minister, he said that Shahbaz Sharif cannot control Lahore. He claimed that he will soon cut tail and ear of the fake ‘lion’.

Meanwhile, responding to the accusations, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Chaudhry Sher Ali is mentally unstable and he is blackmailing the party leadership to appoint his son as mayor of Faisalabad.

He said the decision of Faislabad’s mayorship will be taken by the party leadership after local government elections.

The cracks between Khawaja Asif and Chaudhry Nisar began to show when Sharif brothers returned to Pakistan from exile. Parting of the ways between the two leaders was complete when Khawaja Asif tried to replace Chauhdry Nisar as the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly during Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) rule.

The gaps widened even further over awarding of tickets during 2013 elections and both the leaders kept criticizing each other in private meetings without naming anyone. DNA
