Senator Sehar condemns US plan to move embassy
ISLAMABAD, DEC 06 (DNA) – Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) has strongly condemned the US President Trump’s decision to declare formal recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel instead of Tel Aviv. She said this shortsighted move will ultimately have grave unpredictable consequences for the peace, stability and security of the Middle East.
Senator Kamran said Jerusalem is a Holy site deeply revered by Muslims and this move will only result in creating disharmony and unrest which will be detrimental to the peace of the region.
She questioned the Trump administration and said it seems the current US policies are aimed at destabilizing the region and rolling back decades’ worth of peace efforts only to appease the Israeli premiere at the price of world peace.
Senator Sehar Kamran said Pakistan should call for an emergency session of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). She said the country should play a leading role in this moment of crisis and raise its voice against this move by the US on all international forums including the United Nations. She urged the OIC and Muslim Ummah to unite for the rights of the people of Palestine and stand with them during these testing times.
US must respect the Arab Peace initiative and reiterating Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s word, “there will be no Palestinian state without East Jerusalem”, she added.
