Senate chairman lauds Uzbek role in achieving regional peace
ISLAMABAD, MAY 06 (DNA) – Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov met with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani.
During the meeting, prospects for expanding the Uzbek-Pakistani inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed, as well as possibilities for further strengthening the partnership in the fields of trade, investment, logistics, tourism, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
Special emphasis was placed on cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics in order to further ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods between the two countries, including for the development of regional trade.
Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan S.Sanjrani noted with satisfaction the dynamic growth of trade between our countries in recent years. At the same time, the parties stated that there is a huge potential between Uzbekistan and Pakistan for further strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.
As was emphasized, the parties also need to strengthen the role and practical participation of parliamentarians of the two countries in improving the legal base of bilateral cooperation.
In the framework of the conversation, the similarity of the positions of both countries in matters of regional security, including to resolve the situation in Afghanistan were also discussed.
In this context, the Senate chairman appreciated initiatives and efforts of Uzbekistan to achieve sustainable peace in the region.=DNA
