KARACHI: (DNA) –  The law enforcement agencies have chalked out a security plan for by-election on Karachi’s NA-247 and PS-111 scheduled for Sunday.

As per details, as many as 4,280 security personnel will be deployed at 240 polling stations set up in these two constituencies. Out of the total, 191 polling stations have been declared sensitive.

CCTV cameras will be installed at all sensitive polling stations, according to SSP Samiullah.

The National Assembly seat (NA-247) was vacated by Dr Arif Alvi after his election to the office of President of Pakistan, while the provincial assembly seat (PS-111) was vacated by Imran Ismail, who was appointed as governor of Sindh province.

PTI’s Aftab Hussain Siddiqui, PPP’s Qaiser Nizamani, MQM-P’s Sadiq Iftikhar and PSP’s Arshad Vohra are in the run for the NA seat, whereas Shehzad Qureshi of PTI, Fayaz Pirzada of PPP and Jahanzeb Mughal of MQM-P will contest the by-poll from the PA seat.

The number of registered voters in both the constituencies is more than 7,20,000.

Earlier on October 14, by elections were held in 35 constituencies of national and provincial assemblies.

According to the results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) managed to bag four NA seats each while PML-Q surprised everyone by winning two NA seats. MMA’s Zahid Durrani emerged victorious from NA-35 Bannu.
