Security forces kill 2 terrorists in North Waziristan: Army
ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (DNA): Pakistani military said on Sunday that two
hardcore terrorists were killed in the country’s northwest tribal
district of North Waziristan.
A statement from the army’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public
Relations, said that the security forces conducted an intelligence-based
operation in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, killing two hardcore
terrorists and arresting another.
This is the second operation against the terrorists in North Waziristan
district in three days. The army said on Friday night that two hardcore
terrorists were killed while another was captured after the security
forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on a terrorist hideout
in Boya area of North Waziristan.
Pakistani military had conducted a series of operations against
terrorist groups in North Waziristan that borders Afghanistan. Although
the area has mostly been pacified, remnants of the terrorist groups
still manage to launch attacks on the security forces sporadically.
The Pakistani army says that members of the Pakistani militant groups
have fled to Afghanistan and now operate from the other side of the
border. Pakistan is fencing its nearly 2,600 kilometers border, mostly
porous, to stop the cross-border movement of the militants. DNA
