Security beefed up at NAB’s Lahore office

LAHORE, AUG 18 (DNA) – The local administration has beefed up the security arrangements inside and outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office that will be hearing corruption references against Sharif family.

Earlier on Thursday, NAB obtained volume 10 of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report for the investigation against Sharif family. At first, NAB’s plea was rejected by Supreme Court’s (SC) registrar office but later, it was accepted.
NAB had issued summons to ex-PM Nawaz Sharif and his sons, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz for August 18, however their lawyer is likely to record statements about Al-Azizia Steel Mills.
SC had directed NAB to prepare three references in which one was regarding Al-Azizia Steel Mill while the other two were about London flats and 16 offshore companies held by the Sharif family.
It should be mentioned that Nawaz Sharif had submitted review appeals in the top court against the verdict of disqualification, attaching documents of Capital FZE salary and UAE Iqama (work permit). His lawyer reasoned that a stay order should be issued on Panama case decision until review petition is ruled, questioning the jurisdiction of five-member bench after dissenting notes by two of the judges.
SC had disqualified Nawaz Sharif in Panama case verdict on the basis of his non-withdrawn salary, considering it part of his assets.
