Swati added that secretary interior also failed to contact suspended Islamabad IG despite several attempts.
SC suspends notification of Islamabad IG’s transfer
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday suspended notification of transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IG) Jan Mohammad.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has taken suo motu notice of the transfer.
The apex court also directed federal govt to submit detailed reply in this regard till October 31.
“IG Police serves under interior minister”, remarked CJP.
Earlier today, CJP Justice Saqib Nisar on Monday took suo motu notice of alleged transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IG) Jan Mohammad over not picking phone of a federal minister.
“I heard that Islamabad IG was transferred over not picking phone of a minister. Secretary interior has to reveal real reasons behind transfer of Jan Mohammad”, remarked CJP.
“It also came to light that matter of phone call is linked to son of a minister. We will not allow anyone to weaken state-institutions. Writ of law would be established at all cost”, remarked CJP.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati stated he had not committed any wrongdoing in case pertaining to transfer of Islamabad IG Jan Mohammad.
Swati stated that he would appear before the SC to present his stance. He added, “I hope CJP Justice Saqib Nisar will fathom my stance on the matter.”
Swati alleged that his house was attacked and employees were injured. “I approached Islamabad IG as a common citizen but he did not pick my call for 22 hours”, Swati was quoted as saying.
“Upon incessant failure, I approached Prime Minister Imran Khan and secretary interior and explained issue to them”, Swati said while adding, “Is seeking security from security personnel as a common citizen not my right.”
