SC to hear Nawaz petition for bail extension today
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan will today (Friday) hear Nawaz Sharif’s petition seeking extension in the bail granted to him on medical grounds.
The three-member bench headed Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and also comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi will hear the case.
Nawaz Sharif had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on April 30 which stated that a review petition had been filed in the Supreme Court on its March 26 decision. The petition sought an extension in Nawaz’s bail until a decision on the review petition.
Supreme Court had granted bail to former premier Nawaz Sharif for six weeks, suspending his sentence and giving him the freedom to obtain medical treatment of his choice within the country. Nawaz Sharif s bail is set to expire on May 7.
