SC gives 45 days to remove illegal billboards
LAHORE, (DNA) – The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to remove illegal billboards across the country within 45 days.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said huge billboards have been installed in the vicinity of cantonment, DHA and Railways area in Lahore.
He added that the order had been passed in Karachi to remove huge billboards and the very same order will be applicable in Lahore in to clear the city of billboards.
The chief justice, while warning against using public properties for billboards, said those who want to install billboards should choose to do so on private properties.
The verdict in Karachi was based on Article 25 and the case in Lahore also falls under the same article, he added. The bench after hearing the arguments adjourned the proceedings for an indefintie period.
