Saudi foreign minister arrives in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir arrived in Islamabad on Thursday as part of global efforts to de-escalate tensions between Pakistan and India.
According to the foreign ministry, the Saudi foreign minister will hold meetings with senior members of the Pakistani leadership, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The Saudi minister is also expected to discuss the prevailing situation in the region as well as other matters of mutual interest.
Al-Jubeir will also meet Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The Saudi minister was scheduled to visit Pakistan and India last week but the visit was delayed due to heightened military tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
His arrival comes after last month’s visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during which the kingdom signed multi-billion dollar deals with Pakistan.
Both the countries also signed seven memorandums in different fields including oil refining, LNG and mineral development.
