Saudi Arabia condemns Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the region
RIYADH, JUL 12: Saudi Arabia on Sunday condemned the latest round of Iranian attacks on neighboring countries and ships in the Strait of Hormuz describing Iran’s conducts as destabilizing.
“The Foreign Ministry expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and rejection in the strongest terms of Iran’s continuation of its destabilizing behavior to the security and stability of the region,” a statement read.
It described the attacks as a “breach of the basics of international law, the UN Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the basics of good neighborliness.”
The Kingdom condemned the repeated attacks on commercial ships saying they “threaten security and the freedom of navigation” and the attacks on neighbors, naming Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates reiterating “its (Saudi Arabia’s) complete rejection of Iran’s breach of the sovereignty of brotherly states, and its continued threat to the region’s security and stability.”
Iran launched missiles and drones at its Gulf neighbors on Sunday, in retaliation for new US strikes following an attack by Iranian forces on a merchant vessel that was abandoned in flames by its crew.
