MOSCOW:  Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a warm congratulatory message to the Muslim community of Russia on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the joyous festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In his official greeting, President Putin offered sincere congratulations and highlighted the profound spiritual significance of the holiday.”I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Russia’s Muslims on Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan,” the message stated. “For centuries, this holiday has embodied believers’ aspirations for moral excellence, mercy, and compassion, guiding them toward the enduring values of Islam.

“The President praised Russian Muslims for their deep respect for historical and spiritual traditions, noting that the festival is widely celebrated within communities and families.

He commended the tradition of organizing large-scale charitable, cultural, educational, and children’s events throughout Ramadan.”Muslim organizations contribute meaningfully to strengthening the institution of the family and the upbringing of youth,” Putin added. “They engage in constructive dialogue with government and public institutions, devoting sustained efforts to patriotic, educational, and humanitarian initiatives.

“He expressed special gratitude to Muslim servicemen fighting for Russia’s freedom and independence alongside their comrades, as well as those supporting the families of fallen heroes.”I wish you good health, success, and all the very best,” the President concluded.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 falls on March 20 in Russia and many parts of the Muslim world, following the sighting of the Shawwal moon and the completion of Ramadan fasting. The message underscores the Kremlin’s ongoing recognition of Russia’s diverse religious communities and their contributions to national unity and social harmony.
