Eid moon not sighted, Eid on Saturday
KARACHI, JUN 14 (DNA) – A meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee for sighting of Eid moon is underway in Karachi (Thursday).
The meeting is being presided over by Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
Beside the Central Ruet-e-Hial Committee, zonal committees are also hodling meetings in the provincial headquarters to collect evidence regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon.
No testimonies have been recieved in Muzaffarabad, Jhelum, Lahore, Mangla and Gujranwala.
A formal announcement regarding Eid-ul-Fitr will be made after evidence of moon sighting is collected from different parts of the country.
Met Office has maintained that the new moon of Shawwal has been born on crossing conjunction point on the night between Wednesday and Thursday
According to astronomical parameters, there is a slight chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal,1439 AH on the evening of Thursday.
The age of the moon today will be 19 hours which is impossible to view. For sighting, it is necessary that the moon should be 22 hours old.
