Punjab minister reviews Muharram security

KHANEWAL, Jul 03 (APP/DNA):Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Labour and Human Rights Faisal Ayub Khokhar stressed the need for unity and peace during Muharram, urging all schools of thought to play their part in maintaining harmony.
He expressed these views while speaking to media after offering condolences on the demise of senior PML-N leader and former provincial transport minister Haji Irfan Khan Daha, father of sitting MNA Ahmad Khan Daha.
Khokhar said, on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, security arrangements in Multan Division for Muharram were thoroughly reviewed. He assured that foolproof security had been ensured across all processions and streets, with dedicated monitoring cells established at every route.
All departments including Police, Rescue, WAPDA, Civil Defence, and other security forces have been placed on high alert, he added. He reiterated the Chief Minister’s policy of zero tolerance, stating that no room would be left for any untoward incident.
He said clerics from all sects and members of peace committees were cooperating to maintain a peaceful environment. He also mentioned that he personally monitored the security of processions and majalis to ensure citizens feel safe.
Later, he visited the residence of the late Haji Irfan Khan Daha and expressed condolences to MNA Ahmad Khan Daha, Sohail Sikandar Khan Daha and other family members, noting that the late leader’s services for the party were unforgettable.
Speaking further, Khokhar said the Punjab government is actively promoting sports to engage youth in healthy activities, and various sports projects would soon be launched in Khanewal district.
He also highlighted the CM’s initiatives including provision of ration to 1.2 million families, improvement in sanitation, and resolution of public issues. He said the Punjab government prioritizes public service in all circumstances, ensuring that necessary facilities are available during Muharram for peaceful observance of religious rites.
He was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for C&W Rana Saleem Hanif, Sohail Sikandar Khan Daha, Qulzam Bashir Ahmad, Tariq Nawab Pracha, Sheikh Javed Advocate, Muhammad Bilal, Rana Younas, Irtifa Ziaullah.
