He made this committee under his supervision.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif are threatening the watchdog.

“Both Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister are issuing threats to the commission. We strongly condemn them,” Khan said. “If NAB is doing good job, it should be praised and commended by the government,” he said.

“We shall strictly oppose government’s attack on NAB”, said Imran. Khan said that NAB should be made an independent and autonomous boy.

“As per my commitment, KPEC will remain independent and will have all the powers to nab any corrupt individual in the province.

Imran Khan held press conference for the clarification on the amendment in accountability commission ordinance and Director General’s (DG) resignation.

“Not once did I or Pervaiz Khattak give any statement against Gen Hamid or KPEC when our sitting minister (Zia ullah Afridi) got arrested,” he argued.

He said that the KP accountability commission’s head did not have any complaints with the provincial government but with the accountability commissioner.

“It is shameful to see federal government making Khyber Pakhthunkhwa Ehtasab Commission amendments a reason to attack and undermine the NAB. We will not let that happen,” he said.

Therefore, he announced to review the amendment brought in the accountability commission’s law. He also said that he himself would lead the committee and if the amendment was found to be a hurdle in the process of accountability then it would be revoked. PTI’s chairman condemned government’s actions taken against NAB.

Imran Khan declared strong opposition to these actions. KP CM Pervez Khattak said during the press conference that accountability institution was not being revoked. Lt.Gen. (r) Hamid Khan had raised false allegations, he added.

“Independent accountability has been the cornerstone of my struggle since last 20 years and let me assure you all that I will never back down from it,” he said.

“If there is any amendment which impedes the process of accountability, we will review with the help of well reputed lawyer/judges. I will personally head a committee which will comprise of lawyers & judges. We will review any amendment which can hinder accountability,” Khan announced.

“I will make sure that we counter this impression created that we have clipped the wings of KPEC,” Khan pledged. DNA
