RIYADH, AUG 5: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Wednesday that protecting Jerusalem is the fundamental pillar of any peace.

“Protecting Jerusalem is not only a religious or humanitarian issue but a fundamental pillar for any just and lasting peace,” Prince Faisal said speaking from Amman where the Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites was being held.

The meeting, which brought together Arab and Islamic countries, addressed Israel’s illegal policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites amid ongoing escalation, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

“The Kingdom confirms that justifying violence and inciting it on the basis of religious or doctrinal claims is a serious deviation from the shared values of the Abrahamic religions and runs counter to the principles of equality in human dignity and the sanctity of human life.”

Prince Faisal stressed that all unilateral measures taken by Israel in the Palestinian territories are null and void while also denouncing Israeli violations in Gaza.

Before the meeting, the Saudi foreign minister met with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi.

“They also exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the latest situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as well as the ongoing efforts in this regard,” the ministry said in a post on X.
