President urges students to prepare themselves for future challenges  

RAWALAKOT, NOV 16 (DNA) – Sardar Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has urged the students to prepare themselves for the challenges of the future in a competitive world and to contribute in the national development of the country.

He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest at third convocation of the University of Poonch Rawalakot on Friday. The ceremony was also addressed by Vice Chancellor University of Poonch, Professor Dr. Muhammad Rasool Jan, Vice Chancellor Women University Bagh, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halim Khan and Registrar of the university, Professor Dr. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed.

The Convocation was attended by deans of different faculties, heads of the departments, graduating students, parents of the students and large number of people from different walks of life.

Earlier President Masood Khan, who is also Chancellor of the university awarded degrees to students of different disciplines and congratulated them for graduating from the university. He said today we are celebrating the accomplishment of our brilliant students.

“Only education and enlightenment can make our youth responsible member of the society and beneficial citizen to contribute for the progress and prosperity of the country’” President Masood Khan said.

He emphasized the importance of quality education and praised the efforts of the University of Poonch for achieving an important milestone in a short span of time.

Sardar Masood said it was the responsibility of all people to make this country a better place and  advised the graduates not to forget the role of their teachers who moulded them what they are now.

You owe them utmost respect. You owe your parents not only for the upbringing, but also for the hard work and sacrifices they made to get you better educated.” He emphasized that teachers should keep their focus on character building of the students as education without integrity serve no purpose.

Khan said education; especially the higher education is one of the priorities of present government in Azad Kashmir and added that energies and capabilities of the youth will be utilized to accelerate the process of development.

The president advised the students to serve the country with commitment, hardworking, honesty and zeal to their profession that will help the country get prosperity.

Earlier, Prof Dr Muhammad Rasool Jan, the vice chancellor of the university, addressed the gathering and highlighted some of the achievements of the university.DNA
