President urges need to train youth in science, tech sectors
ISLAMABAD, MAR 06 (DNA) – President Arif Alvi has stressed the need for training the youth keeping in view the demand of the industry and revolutionary changes taking place in science and technology in order to achieve the objectives of socio economic development.
Addressing the opening ceremony of 2nd International Conference on Communication, Computing and Digital Systems at Bahria University in Islamabad on Wednesday, he expressed the confidence that our youth will grab the opportunities afforded by technological developments and propel the country into the 4th industrial revolution.
The President noted that Naya Pakistan will only happen if knowledgeable people come forward and play their part in the society.
Referring to his initiative in the artificial intelligence, the President said this will help produce one hundred thousand trained people in artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
Arif Alvi said he will also shortly meet the Vice Chancellors of twenty four universities to motivate them for proper training and education of our scientists.
Referring to the challenges of cyber security, the President said it is important for us to secure our systems including those in the banks and others from any sort of hacking and cyber-attacks.
We have to be on guard vis-a-vis protection of important installations from any cyber-attack. He said China has gone into a great firewall security system and Pakistan also needs to ensure that all its systems are well protected. Responsibility in this regard greatly rests with the educational institutions.
Earlier addressing convocation of Rawal Institute of Health Sciences in Islamabad, President Dr Arif Alvi said early diagnose of diseases is of vital importance for a better treatment and to reduce the rate of mortality.
He emphasized the need for creating awareness among people to prevent them from diseases. The President said sanitation and cleanliness are imperative to ensure better health.=DNA
