Policeman attacked outside Ahmadis’ worship place

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A police constable deployed outside an Ahmadis’ worship place at Taunsa Sharif was shot at and injured by two masked bikers who also took away his official weapon.
According to police, Constable Irshad Husain was performing security duty at the gate of ‘Baitul Salat’ of Ahmadia Jamat when two masked bikers opened fire on him early in the morning.
As the constable got injured, the assailants fled away along with his official gun, they said.
The injured policeman was shifted to local tehsil headquarters hospital from where he was referred to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, given his critical condition.
Soon after the incident, law enforcement agencies reached the scene, collected evidence and recorded eyewitnesses statements, who said the attackers seemed to be youngsters.
District Police Officer Ghulam Mubashar Maikin told media that police were trying to trace out the assailants.
The inspector general of police sought a report of the incident from Regional Police Officer Rehmatullah Niazi, sources said.
The district police arrested three people in separate raids for collecting donations for some charity organisations and seminaries.
According to police, Ahmad was arrested from his medical store where a charity box was found, while Qari Mahmood was arrested collecting donations for a seminary. In another raid, Iqbal was arrested for placing a charity box at his shop.
