PML-N, PPP submitted incomplete asset details: ECP
ISLAMABAD, DEC 19 (DNA) – The Election Commission of Pakistan stated on Tuesday that assets details presented by PML-N and PPP in 2013 and 2015 were incomplete.
Hearing the foreign funding case, five-member bench, headed by Chief election commissioner said both the parties contained evidence of funding by the US and Britain.
PTI’s lawyer Faisal Choudhry and leader Farrukh Habib were present in the commission. PPP was represented by Latif Khosa’s junior associate and PML-N was represented by Jahangir Jadoon’s junior associate.
The chief election commissioner said at the hearing that ECP has always had the authority to listen to cases regarding foreign funding.
ECP started hearing the case after filing of the application by PTI leader Farrukh Habib.
The commission has sent a notice to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from PML-N. Notices have also been sent to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Replies from PPP and PML-N in the case have been sought by January 8.
While speaking to the media, PTI leader Habib said notices have been sent to Bilawal, Zardari and Nawaz, and called it an ‘open and shut’ case.
“Millions of rupees of funding were not disclosed by PML-N in their accounts,” further stating that it seems their accounts were audited by an unprofessional.
“Replies have been sought by ECP. Their real place is Adalia Jail. He [Nawaz] should not have been removed from PM house but rather put directly in jail.”
Citing Supreme Court, Habib said all parties should be held accountable.
