PM orders action against 3 WAPDA officials over negligence
LAHORE, 28 JULY (DNA) – Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved suspension and disciplinary action against three officials of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) for their gross negligence causing death of two innocent persons.
Two persons died and one injured due to sparking and falling down of LT Line in WAPDA Kot Lakhpat Division on Anum Road Lahore. On the directions of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, an enquiry was conducted to identify those responsible for the gross negligence, which had caused the death of two innocent persons.
Muhammad Azeem and Ms Kanwal had died because of spark and falling down of LT Line on 22nd July in the area of WAPDA Kot Lakhpat Division on Anum Road, Lahore. A third person was injured when meters installed on the pole had caught fire.
The enquiry report submitted to the Prime Minister has identified officials whose carelessness caused the heavy losses of precious human lives. Disciplinary action along with registration of FIRs against WAPDA Feeder In-charge Mr Mirza Tariq Baig and WAPDA Assistant Manager (Operations) Mr Samin Gohar is recommended by the enquiry report.
Suspension along with initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Deputy Manager (0operations) Mr Aqeel Zafar Sulehri is advised in the enquiry report submitted to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. DNA
