PM Nawaz to inaugurate Lowari Tunnel today

CHITRAL, JUL 20 (DNA) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate Lowari Tunnel project on Thursday.
The 8.5 km long tunnel will provide all weather connecting to Chitral with rest of the country. Construction of Lowari Tunnel has been a long standing demand of the people of the area which was neglected in the past.
Work on the project was underway since 1975 and has been completed at a cost of about Rs25 billion. With completion of the tunnel, travelling time between Peshawar and Chitral has been reduced from fourteen to seven hours.
The project will enhance economic growth through accelerated trade activity, generate employment opportunities for locals and promote tourism.
