PM Nawaz claims JIT report based on assumptions, allegations

ISLAMABAD, JUL 13 (DNA) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stated that the JIT report about his family business is based on assumptions and allegations.

Chairing a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad on Thursday , he said his family earned nothing in politics but lost much.

PM Nawaz further stated that they are running family business since 1937. He said that the language used in the report proved dishonesty of the investigation team.

Meanwhile, the participants of the meeting also advised PM not to resign owing to pressure from the opposition groups but instead to challenge the JIT final report in the Supreme Court.

PM also reviewed the JIT’s final report in addition to discussing the ongoing political situation in the country following the JIT report findings.

Moreover, it also approved terms and conditions of the appointment of Member Gas, and Member Oil of Oil and Gas of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be holding a parliamentary party meeting in Islamabad on Friday to review Panama JIT report.

The premier, the other day, presided over an informal consultative meeting where he was briefed by legal and constitutional experts regarding the preparations of the government’s stance on the JIT report, local   media outlet reported.

The consultative session was held to take up the matter of ‘baseless, unwanted remarks’ against government functionaries in the Supreme Court, questioning on what grounds were such comments made [by the JIT], sources are reported to have stated. Nawaz Sharif also stated that the allegations of not cooperating with the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for Panama case are baseless.

PM Nawaz made it clear that he will neither dissolve the assemblies nor resign from his position in a meeting to discuss course-of-action of the ruling party after JIT report.
