PM Khan orders revision of SOPs to eradicate corruption at check posts

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed officials and government agencies concerned to revise standard operating procedures to root out corruption practices at check posts on highways in the country.

Taking notice of rent seeking from goods transport by various government agencies, including Police, Excise and Customs through check posts at national highways, the PM ordered immediate steps to check the practice.

According to a letter written by PM’s Office to the secretaries of interior and narcotics, provincial chief secretaries and other concerned officials, the premier instructed to reduce the number of check posts in coordination with other stakeholders where possible.

He further ordered that the supervisory role should be made effective.

The letter has directed for completing the above exercise by October 5 and submitting a report to PM’s Office.

It further stated after the deadline, a stern action will be initiated against the ground staff of various check posts and supervisory officers.
