Pervaiz meets Opps leader to discuss appointment of ECP members

ISLAMABAD, 13 JUNE, (DNA) – Federal Minister of Information Pervaiz Rashid on Monday met with Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Syed Khurshid Shah to discuss the appointment of the members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Pervaiz Rashid arrived in the chamber of the Opposition leader to have discussion over the issue. Shah stated that the matter regarding the appointment of ECP members should be resolved at the earliest as a number of important cases shall be left unheard during the absence of key members.
Khurshid Shah suggested that Imran Zafar Laghari should be made a member of the parliamentary committee dealing with the matter instead of Ayaz Sumro.
Hearing of key cases, including the one related to Captain Safdar’s assets, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf s (PTI) funds, Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq’s case against PTI’s affidavits and irregularities in election campaigns, shall be suspended for indefinite time period as a result of the retirement of ECP members. =DNA
