PEMRA takes notice of Shahid Masood’s complaint

ISLAMABAD, 28 FEB (DNA) – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has taken notice of a complaint filed by Dr. Shahid Masood of ARY News against the airing by public and private TV Channels of certain words by Information Minister Pervez Rashid about him.
The complaint has been referred to PEMRA’s Council of Complaints for further action. In his complaint, Masood has drawn Chairman PEMRA’s attention to the criticism of his personality by Information Minister Pervez Rashid. The comments, which went on air in the absence of time delaying mechanism and lack of editorial control by certain TV channels, have “hurt the feelings” of Dr. Shahid Masood, according to the complaint.
In his complaint, Masood said these comments were an attempt to make fun of him which damaged his fame across the globe. Masood said he was an ex-Chairman and MD of PTV, and has worked in senior positions with Jang Group and ARY Group. He said people from all over the world called him and sent messages of concern after Information Minister’s “threats”. He said this news was aired by all public and private sector TV news channels. He requested PEMRA to take action according to PEMRA laws.
Taking notice on this complaint according to the law, PEMRA has referred the matter to its Council of Complaints for further action. DNA
