Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi, snatches PSL 2018 title
KARACHI, MAR 25 (DNA) – Peshawar Zalmi set a 149-run target for Islamabad United to chase after winning the toss and opting to bat first in the Pakistan Super League 2018 final at the National Stadium Karachi on Sunday.
The late blitz by fast bowler Wahab Riaz lifted Peshawar Zalmi to a fighting total of 148 runs against Islamabad United.
The tailender offered resistance to the JP Duminy-led team with his 28-runs off 14 balls innings, in which he scored four boundaries and one six, and gave a margin to the ‘Men in Yellow’ bowlers.
Earlier, Kamran Akmal and Andre Fletcher opened the innings for the defending champions, whereas Samit Patel and Mohammad Sami shared the new ball for Islamabad United.
After two quiet overs, things livened up in the third as Fletcher hit back-to-back fours off the bowling of Patel.
