Panama JIT: Investigation enters final phase
ISLAMABAD, JUL 02 (DNA) – The interrogation of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), probing the offshore assets of Sharif family, has entered the final phase as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s cousin Tariq Shafi will appear before the team today, and the JIT will submit its final report before the Supreme Court on July 10.
Furthermore, Nawaz Sharif’s children Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz have been directed to appear before the JIT on July 3, 4 and 5 respectively.
On the other hand, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has written a letter to the investigation team and said it is unable to provide more record of Sharif family and Ishaq Dar in addition to what it has already submitted.
The only wealth statement of Sharif family which is missing from the record is of those days when the family was not present in Pakistan, said FBR.
The FBR sources told Dunya News that there is no record available of Sharif family and Ishaq Dar when they were out of country, and it was not necessary for them to file the returns while they were living abroad.
The letter further stated that some record of Sharif family was given to National Accountability Bureau (NAB), if FBR gets hold of that data then it will also be presented before the JIT.
