Palestine welcomes ceasefire between US and Iran

RAMALLAH, April 8, 2026 (DNA) – The Palestinian Presidency welcomed on Wednesday the ceasefire agreement reached this morning between the United States and Iran, considering it a positive and important step towards achieving stability.
The Presidency commended the efforts exerted by Pakistan and all parties calling for a ceasefire, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to achieve a permanent end to the state of war in the region.
President Mahmoud Abbas called for this ceasefire to include the Palestinian territories, which, whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or East Jerusalem, are subjected to ongoing attacks by colonists and occupation forces, as well as to include a cessation of hostilities against Lebanon.
President Abbas added that this is an important step in strengthening the sovereignty, security, and stability of all countries in the region.
