Pakistan’s new envoy to Iran will take charge next month: Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson says that country’s newly appointed ambassador to Iran will take charge of her duties next month.
exclusively at the foreign ministry, Muhammad Faisal said it is confirmed that Riffat Masood has been appointed as new ambassador to Iran and is going to Tehran next month.
Riffat Masood currently serving as Pakistan’s envoy to Norway is first ever female ambassador of Pakistan to Iran. She will replace Ambassador Asif Durrani who will be retiring from his post.
Masood is a carrier diplomat having wide experience of diplomacy. She is fluent in Persian language. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from University of Sheffield, UK.
She joined Pakistan foreign ministry in 1987 as Section officer. She had various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan Missions in the UK, the USA, Turkey and France.
She had also served as Director General (Policy Planning), Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2014-2015 and Director General (South Asia), Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2013-2014.
