Pakistani businessmen invited to 34th Trade Expo in Indonesia
LAHORE, JUN 24 (DNA) – Ambassador of Indonesia, Iwan Suyudhieamri on Saturday invited Pakistani business community to participate in the 34th Trade Expo in Indonesia, being held in October.
Talking to businessmen here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), he said that negotiations for converting the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to Free Trade Agreement (FTA) would be held next month between the ministries of the two countries.
The ambassador said that bilateral trade should be enhanced as Pakistan and Indonesia were potential markets, asserting that Pakistani products had great demand in his country, therefore Pakistani businessmen should avail the opportunity.
He said the LCCI was playing a significant role in strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries. He said Indonesia and Pakistan have old historical links and enjoy cordial relations.
The people of both countries are close to each other and share special bondage of friendship and companionship, he added.
On the occasion, LCCI Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir said that Indonesia and Pakistan were members of the OIC and D-8 Organisation of Economic Cooperation.

LCCI Vice President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigal said that Indonesia was a major trading partner of Pakistan as among the top importing and exporting destinations of Pakistan, Indonesia came at 5th and 16th places respectively.
He said that there was already a Preferential Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Indonesia. Last year, Indonesia allowed Pakistan to have free market access on 20 items with immediate effect.=DNA
