Pakistan envoy in US urges world to take notice of atrocities in IoK
VIRGINIA, Aug 25 (DNA): Pakistan’s Envoy to the United States Dr Asad
Majid has urged the world delegates to take strict notice of atrocities
in Indian-held Kashmir.
Amid an address to an event in the state of Virginia, Pakistan top
diplomat said the Narendra Modi-led government had held nine million
Kashmiris hostage with its ongoing clampdown in the occupied valley, and
called on the world to break its silence on the grave situation.
He demanded that the world institutions send analysts and observers to
the occupied valley and force India to withdraw its decision to end
special status of occupied Kashmir. India’s actions in Kashmir posed a
threat to regional peace and stability, he noted.
He further stated that it was not clear how the situation would unfold
in the coming days.
Asad Majid pointed out that US President Donald Trump had offered as
many as three times to play a role in mediating on the Kashmir crisis.

in occupied Kashmir
Indian forces continued their lockdown of occupied Kashmir for the 21st
day on Sunday, after India withdrew special Article of its constitution
that gave a special status to the disputed territory.
Indian authorities continued to impose strict curfew and other
restrictions across the valley, preventing Kashmiris from holding
demonstrations against the occupation and end of special status for
Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated that
the world body is watching the alarming situation in Indian held Kashmir
and his organization will continue playing its role in this regard.
He was talking to Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who called him
to discuss the continuing gross human rights violations in Jammu and
Kashmir.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said regional peace situation has become precarious
after the unilateral steps taken by India Kashmir.
He said India has put the whole area under complete lock down and
communications are banned.
Foreign Minister said Indian steps violate the UN resolutions and
contravene the international laws.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the UN Secretary General that a delegation of
Indian opposition led by Rahul Gandhi was forced to return from Srinagar
airport after it arrived to assess the situation of Occupied Kashmir.
Foreign Minister said the reports emerging from international media and
international human rights organizations about situation in Occupied
Kashmir are alarming.
