Pakistan asks Britain to deport Nawaz Sharif
The development came during a meeting between Interior Minister and British High Commissioner
LAHORE: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed met with British High Commissioner in Pakistan Christian Turner and submitted an application for the deportation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Sheikh Rasheed said the UK has said that Pakistan should request the extradition of Nawaz Sharif. “The UK did not respond positively regarding the extradition of Nawaz Sharif,” the Interior Minister said and added the British envoy said they would talk government to government on this issue.
Sheikh Rasheed said Nawaz Sharif is facing cases in courts. Sheikh Rasheed was talking to newsmen at an important press conference in Lahore on Wednesday sharing the latest information about negotiations held between the government and banned outfit Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). It may be recalled that Nawaz Sharif, who was serving a prison sentence, had left the country to receive medical treatment in London in November 2019. The Lahore High Court (LHC) lifted a travel ban and the government rubber-stamped the decision.
