Pakistan ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and EU meets National Hockey Team
Brussels, APR 30 /DNA/ – Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU Zaheer A. Janjua met Pakistan’s National Field Hockey Team visiting Belgium as part of its 15 – day European tour. He also witnessed the match between Pakistan and Belgium.
The team played two matches against the Netherlands and one against Belgium in the first leg of the tour. The national team would be playing another three matches against Spain before the start of Asia Cup, which is to be held in Jakarta from May 21, 2022.
Appreciating the excellent performance and strong team spirt, the Ambassador said that the Pakistani players displayed exceptional skills and talent in their match against Olympic and world’s defending champion Belgium. He underscored that participation of Pakistani team in European fixture against world’s strongest hockey teams would not only boost their morale but would also project the positive image of the country.
Speaking on behalf of the team, the Head coach Mr. Siegfried Aikman stated that the team management was looking for further such tours and also welcoming foreign teams visit to Pakistan.
The Pakistan team will leave for Spain on May 1st to play a three-match series against Spain, before flying back home on 5th May, 2022.
