Optimistic about getting justice from SC: Naqeeb’s father
ISLAMABAD, MAR 21 (DNA) – Haji Khan Mohammad—the father of late Naqeebullah Mehsud—on Wednesday stated that he was hopeful about getting justice in Naqeebullah murder case from the country s top court.
He was talking to media outside Supreme Court (SC) in Islamabad today.
Haji Khan was all praise for the apex court over arrest of Rao Anwar, former SSP Malir whereas he expressed full confidence in the country’s top court.
“20 million people stood by us. Whole nation was is sad over extra-judicial killing of Naqeeb. We are peaceful people and will follow the legal path [to pursue the case]. My son was the son of Pakistan”, stated the disgruntled father.
Talking to media on the same occasion, relatives of late Naqeeb stated that they did not believe in struggle outside legal boundaries. They termed apex court their proud.
“I assure the national institutions that we are peaceful people and will progress in accordance with the law. My son was the son of Pakistan.”
Earlier today, Sindh Police arrested Rao Anwar over the orders of Supreme Court after the suspended officer made a surprise appearance before the court. He had been absconding in the case of Naqeebullah Mehsud’s extrajudicial killing for two months.
Soon after he finally came out of hiding and appeared in SC, the Chief Justice directed to arrest suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar while rejecting his protective bail plea.
The accused, wearing a mask, arrived at the court on a white car amid tight security. He was then taken to Courtroom number 1, where the hearing of the case was held by a three-member bench headed by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar.
