New currency notes to be available for Eid from Aug 25
MULTAN, AUG 24 (DNA) – Banks will start providing new currency notes to people from Aug 25 for Eidul Azha, official sources said Thursday.
According to officials from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Multan, practice of providing new currency notes through SMS services has been discontinued and people would be required to show their identity cards to get new cash from nominated branches of SBP and different commercial banks.
The officials said the SBP had issued Rs 342 billion worth of new currency notes last Eidul Fitr and out of it Rs 25 billion worth of new currency notes were provided through SMS service.
The SBP had issued new currency notes worth Rs 161 billion during previous Eidul Azha 2016.
