Nawaz Sharif finds Musharraf treason case as core cause of his ‘legal troubles’
ISLAMABAD, MAY 23 (DNA) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif expressed on Wednesday that the legal cases against him were punishment for his pursuit of a treason case against the former president, Pervez Musharraf.
In an explosive press conference in Punjab House, the supreme leader of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz stated that it was not easy to bring a former military dictator to court adding that no law could place a dictator in handcuffs.
“I have great respect for the armed forces of Pakistan,” he asserted.
The elder Sharif said that it was no more a secret that how the 2014 sit-in project was orchestrated, who supported the protesters for four months and who made them demand the resignation of Nawaz Sharif.
He claimed that the purpose of the 2014 sit-in was to pressurise him as the planners thought that he would succumb to their demands.
“I want to bring on record why the Avenfield reference was filed against me,” he said in his interaction with media.
