National Day of Portugal celebrated in style
ISLAMABAD, JUN 29 (DNA) – Federal Minister for Information Broadcasting National History and Literary Heritage, Ali Zafar has said that relations between Portugal and Pakistan are improving with each passing day.
He said this while addressing the participants of a reception that was held to celebrate National Day of Portugal.
Ali Zafar said that our political relations have always been good, practically since the independence of Pakistan. Portugal opened an embassy in Karachi very early which was later transferred to Islamabad.
“It is undeniable that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, that will link China to the Arabian Sea, will be a regional game-changer and will offer many business and investment opportunities, also to Portuguese companies,” he said.
The Charge d Affaires of Embassy of Portugal Joao Sabido Costa in his speech said, the national day even is an opportunity to signalize how much we can still establish ways of cooperation in so many area, beginning with the institutional, parliamentarian, economic, cultural, academic, between youth and in the field of Sports.
Several of those areas will be comprehended in the new cultural agreement that we are renegotiating with Pakistan.
Definitely, Culture is something that brings us together as we can appreciate by the depicted posters exhibiting our common traditions in which concerns the art of glazed tiles.
He said, the overlapping of this period with the Footballs World Cup in Russia remind us how much we can cooperate with Pakistan in developing that sport, exploring the talents of the Pakistani Youth, as well as contributing to social inclusion in the great urban areas.
“I would like, as well to great, today, the great Portuguese fashion designer Joao Rolo that for the first time presents his work in Pakistan, thanking him for having came”.
Mr. Costa hoped that this will be the beginning of a very fruitful cooperation comprehending cultural exchanges, opportunities of professional training, actions of women inclusion and empowerment, bringing together our two societies.=DNA
