ISLAMABAD, JUNE 04 (DNA) – Charge d Affaires of Portugal embassy Joao Sabido Costa hosted reception to celebrate national day of Portugal. The reception was attended by members of civil society, media people and diplomats.

Federal Minister for Industries Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi who was chief gust, in his brief comments said both Pakistan and Portugal enjoyed excellent relations adding these relations are poised for a quantum leap.

The minister further said, Portugal being a key country in the European Union can help Pakistan have access to the EU markets. Pakistan, he said was well aware of the potential which the EU had therefore all out efforts were being made to cash in on this potential.

The charge d affaires of Portugal in his address thanked the minister and government of Pakistan for interest in Portugal and its business potential. He added, his country was keen to have cordial relations with Pakistan.

He in this regard cited a number of steps which he had taken towards this end. He further said during his stay in Pakistan he had tries his utmost to woo Pakistani businessmen to go to Portugal and explore various business opportunities.

He further said he was holding regular meetings with the members of chambers and business community in this regard. Mr. Costa said there was huge potential between the two countries in a variety of fields now it is up to us to translate this potential into reality.=DNA
