NAB files reference against Yousaf Raza Gillani, Pemra chief Saleem Baig
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – The National Accountability Bureau has filed a reference against former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and incumbent chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Thursday.
In its reference filed in the accountability court of Rawalpindi, the accountability watchdog has accused the duo of abusing the authority in approving a tender to Inam Akbar regarding the USF (Universal Service Fund) fund.
‘The accused launched an illegal advertising campaign pertaining to the USF fund and caused a damage of Rs 128 million to the national kitty,’ stated NAB in its reference.
Former secretary information Farooq Awan, former Principal Information Officer Muhammad Saleem, Hassan Sheikhu, Hassan and Riaz have been named as co-accused in the reference.
