ISLAMABAD, JAN 08 (DNA) – China Ambassador to Pakistan, Yao Jing on Monday called on Chairman Parliamentary Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Senator Mushahid Hussain.

Senator Mushahid Hussain warmly welcomed Yao Jing to the Parliament House and said, ”Ambassador Yao Jing is an old friend of Pakistan, having served here on two occasions in the past”, adding, “Yao Jing knows Pakistan and the region very well”.

He expressed the hope that during his tenure, Pakistan China relations will be further consolidated and CPEC will make more rapid progress.

Ambassador Yao Jing termed Senator Mushahid Hussain as “an old friend of China” and thanked him for his contribution to Pakistan China relations, especially in the building of CPEC.

He expressed the hope that in 2018 CPEC will enter a ‘new era’ of all round development, and expansion of CPEC to include Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Mushahid Hussain said that CPEC was all about co-operation and connectivity, not just between Pakistan and China but also among countries of the region including Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Mushahid also invited Ambassador Yao Jing to meet with the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC at a mutually convenient time.

The Senator also presented the report of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC to the Ambassador of China.=DNA
