Multiple causes of children deaths in Thar

KARACHI, 11 JAN (DNA) – Sindh health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that there are multiple causes of children deaths in Thar.
Early marriages, cultural values, malnutrition, Pre mature births and underweight are some of causes of children deaths in arid area and government is utilizing its best resources to uplift living standard of the people there. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Monday. Secretary Health Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, M.S Civil Hospital Dr Wajid Memon and chairman Department of Neurosurgery Dr. Riaz Ahmed also attended the meeting.
He said that we were in close coordination with USAID for mobile medical teams at District and Tehsil level in Thar. He said that if we compared death ratio of children from Lahore and Faisalabad to Thar, it was revealed that they had much higher ratio as compared to Thar but we wish no child should die in Thar.
Health minister urged that primary health sector should be improved while more than 817 LHVs were performing their duties. He assured that incentives were being given to specialists to serve in Thar but no one was ready to come.
He directed secretary health to establish neurosurgery wards in all government hospitals to provide better health facilities to the people. Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar asked the philanthropists to come forward to help health department to facilitate the patients. DNA
