Motorways being constructed across the country: PM

ISLAMABAD, 11 JUNE (DNA) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that motorways were being constructed in all the four provinces to provide better communication facilities to the people and for development of the country.

Replying to points raised by Nawab Ali Wassan of PPP in his budget speech, the Prime Minister said the work on Hyderabad-Karachi section of Lahore-Karachi Motorway has begun.

He assured that work on Hyderabad-Sukkur section will also be completed. In KPK, the work on Hazara Motorway is going on rapidly. He said the PML-N government is working on these projects as a national duty and expressed the confidence that these projects will be completed during the next three years.

Addressing the proceedings of National Assembly on budget of FY 2015-16, he reminded the Coastal Highway from Gwadar to Karachi was also constructed by the PML-N government.

Nawaz Sharif said the government wants to make Gwadar a best port, city and a district. He said we should sit together and frame new laws to give a special status of free port to Gwadar including a new administrative system there.

On energy, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed the confidence that load-shedding will end in next three years. He said work on different energy projects is going on rapidly.

He said these projects include two of 330 MW each in Thar based on coal. He said Thar Coal mine will also developed and its coal will be used in these projects.

He said two projects of 1320 MW will be completed at Port Qasim and Hub.

The Prime Minister said eighteen hours load-shedding was not being carried out in any parts of the country as was pointed out by the Opposition member Nawab Ali Wassan. DNA
