Modi-Abbasi meeting unlikely at WEF session in Davos

NEW DELHI, JAN 19 (DNA) – PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are highly unlikely to meet at the annual session of World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos from January 22.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson told media that they are not aware of any such plan regarding bilateral meeting between premiers of India and Pakistan. “There are no plans for meeting with the Pakistan Prime Minister,” MEA secretary on economic relations responded to the question rolled in by Indian reporters.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after repeated incidents of ceasefire violations across the Line of Control as well as inhumane treatment of the residents of Indian-held Kashmir.

Both the countries are set to participate in the WEF annual meet. Indian PM Modi will address the world leaders on January 23. Modi will not be meeting the US President Donald Trump.

On the other hand, Pakistan has not yet announced the scheduled meetings of PM Abbasi during the high-profile visit to Davos.=DNA
