Metropolitan Commissioner inspects construction work in Karachi Zoo
KARACHI, SEPT 20 (DNA) – The construction of new fish house(Aquarium) will complete in the current year in the Karachi Zoo.
The 2150 square feet Aquarium is about marine life and no such a big aquarium of marine life existed in any zoo of Pakistan which have 8 feet long and six feet wide glass boxes and this will be completed in three phases under the Annual Development Program (ADP) in the first phase building completed and in the second phase glass tank and other works and in the third phase machines and water pumps and other works.
After the visit of the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar and the Metropolitan Commissioner of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman works speedily done and the new aquarium open in the next financial year.
Metropolitan Commissioner of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman on Friday morning visited the zoo and inspected construction works. He said this is not a zoo but a big park of trees and very old trees also.
This will be called Karachi Ocean or Metropolitan Ocean where special kinds of fishes. He said that people come to learn in different countries with Ocean Disney and also enjoyment for all.
He said the old fish aquarium was established in 1953 in Karachi Zoo and the new aquarium will be linked with this old one. He said zoological and botany garden are now in the zoo and glass tanks in the aquarium with names of the fishes.
The new fish aquarium work start in 2014 and then delayed and now Mayor Karachi visited here and directed to complete this speedily.
Earlier such an aquarium was in the Clifton but this is not operational since long and closed now. =DNA
