Lions Club Internationals to donate $0.2 million to flood victims

KARACHI, OCT 17 (DNA) — Lions Club International Foundation has planned to extend its philanthropic activities in Pakistan through construction and renovation of 100 housing units for the flood victims in different areas at the cost of USD $200,000.

This was stated by Malik Khuda Bakhsh(MKB), Granted Administrator Lions Club International, while talking a delegation of Council of Economic and Energy Journalists (CEEJ) at a luncheon meeting held recently in Karachi.

He briefed the office bearers and Members of CEEJ that the allocated funds are required to be transferred to Pakistan through a designated bank account of Lion Club Pakistan which will be approved by concerned authorities including Ministry of Interior.

CEEJ President Raja Kamran, Secretary Kashif Munir, Vice President Anjum Wahab, Treasure Ashraf Khan, Information Secretary Masood Ahmed Siddiqui, Ghiyas uddin, Muhammad Ali, Syed Baseem Iftikhar, Shahriar Janjua, Shiraz Ahmed, Kafeel Ahmed, Muhammad Yasir, Huda Sheikh were also present in the Metting.

MKB further said that Lions Club International has constituted a committee under his supervision along with a project head Arshad Mehmood who will lead the activities including the search of land, the appointment of auditor, and the selection of construction company.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that Lions Club International may raise amount of funds considering the situation of the affectees of floods in Pakistan.

He recalled that Lions Club International had played a vital role in serving Pakistanis including construction of 248 houses after floods of 2010 and 100 housing units for the earthquake affected people in 2005.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh expressed hope that authorities concerned will facilitate the organization on priority in order to give speedy relief to victims of flood affected. He remarked that service for fellow Pakistanis is an honor to him on behalf of Lions Club International.

President CEEJ Raja Kamran said that the objective of the Council of Economic and Energy Journalists is to increase the skills of our journalists, sit together and solve people’s problems. Secretary Ceej Kashif Munir said that Lions Club is doing good work so it should get a place in the media. Information Secretary Masood Ahmed Siddiqui congratulated Malik Khuda Bakhsh on behalf of Lions Club International for receiving the Presidential Award for his excellent services. =DNA
