LONDON, SEPT 01 (DNA): Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was discharged from hospital on Friday after undergoing a surgery for throat cancer in a London hospital.
Zayd Hussain Nawaz, grandson of Nawaz Sharif, confirmed the news in a tweet.
“Back home Alhamdulilah! Thank you for the ongoing prayers and Eid Mubarak to everyone, Kulsoom Nawaz,” Zayd wrote, sharing the picture of Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
Kulsoom Nawaz, who is contesting by-election in NA-120 after the disqualification of her husband, stayed in the hospital overnight.
According to family sources, her chemotherapy treatment is scheduled to start from next week.
Kulsoom Nawaz underwent medical check-ups in London, after which doctors diagnosed her with throat cancer. Maryam Nawaz — her daughter — later confirmed on Twitter that her mother was diagnosed with lymphoma, the cancer of the lymph nodes.
Doctors had told Kulsoom Nawaz her throat cancer was curable, according to sources and added that her treatment included chemotherapy.=DNA
