Kaleemullah to play for USL’s Tulsa Roughnecks FC
KARACHI, 17 DEC, (DNA) – Pakistan’s star footballer Kaleemullah has signed a contract with Okhlama based football club The Tulsa Roughnecks FC for the 2016 season.
Kaleemullah, who played seven games for Sacramento Republic last season, is expected to join the club by February ahead of the season.
“The Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced today that Pakistan International midfielder/forward Kaleemullah has signed with the team. Kaleemullah, who has made 25 appearances with the Pakistan National Team, played last season for the Sacramento Republic. The 23-year-old will add another viable attacking option for Tulsa,” said a statement from Tulsa Roughnecks issued on Thursday.
He has been assigned number 10 Jersey by the team. Also dubbed as “Pakistan’s Messi”, Kaleemullah launched his career with KRL in the Pakistan Premier League, spending five seasons with the squad. He won four titles during his five seasons with the KRL.
In 2014, he joined FC Dordoi in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and led the side to the league title while scoring 18 goals in just one season. “It is exciting to add Kaleemullah to our club,” said Roughnecks’ head coach David Irving.
“He is a young player with great pace and skills who has a very high ceiling in the game. He didn’t get much playing time last season, but his goal scoring record in past has been phenomenal.” Kaleemullah expressed delight on joining the new club.
“I’m excited about what we can achieve together as a team, and I hope to prove myself while helping the team reach its goals,” said Kaleemullah. “I really look forward to having a long stay with the Tulsa fans even beyond this season,” he added. DNA
