JSMU receives NOC from HEC for two new PhD Programs

KARACHI, DEC 09 (DNA) — Higher Education Commission has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Jinnah Sindh Medical University for launching two new PhD programmes in Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Health Sciences.
Professor Amjad Siraj Memon, Vice-Chancellor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University, expressed gratitude over the issuance of NOC by HEC and said that by starting new PhD programmes, the shortage of highly qualified healthcare professionals required in the health sector will be met.
The Higher Education Commission said in the letters issued to the JSMU that HEC has no objection in starting a PhD in Dental Health Sciences and Basic Medical Sciences with the relevant faculty members including Professor Dr Syed Muhammad Kefi Iqbal, Professor Dr Muhammad Khalil Khan, Professor Dr Irfan Qamruddin, Professor Dr Syed Mehboob Alam, Professor Dr Saadia Akram and Associate Professor Dr Farah Jawed with effect from Spring 2023. In the letters, the University is advised to comply with the policies laid down by HEC regarding MS/MPhil and PhD.
In this regard, Dr Muhammad Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director of Quality Enhancement Cell of JSMU, said that the issuance of NOC by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) signifies that Jinnah Sindh Medical University is striving to promote higher and quality education and strictly adheres to the rules and regulations and policies prescribed by the HEC.
He congratulated the entire team of Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Health Sciences, while Dr Usmani and his team were appreciated by the VC Professor Amjad Siraj Memon and Registrar Dr Azam Khan for effectively presenting the case for permission for a PhD in HEC.
It should be noted that PhD programmes in Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Health Sciences were approved at the 31st meeting of the Academic Council under the chairmanship of Professor Amjad Siraj Memon, Vice Chancellor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University in June. =DNA
