Tehran, Iran – April 12:Iran’s Forensic Medicine Organization has identified 3,375 people killed during the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel, according to the head of the agency, Abbas Masjedi Arani.

In a statement released to Iranian state media, Arani said the death toll includes 2,875 men and nearly 500 women (reported as 496 in some updates). The highest casualties were recorded in the provinces of Tehran, Hormozgan, and Isfahan.

“During the war in the month of Ramadan, the Forensic Medicine Organization confirmed the identities of 3,375 people killed,” Arani stated.

This figure comes as high-level face-to-face talks between Iranian and US delegations in Islamabad, Pakistan, ended without a breakthrough. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf blamed the lack of trust on past experiences with the US, while a fragile ceasefire remains in place amid ongoing regional tensions.

ContextThe announcement marks the latest official update on casualties from the US-Israel military campaign against Iran, which began in late February 2026. Independent estimates from groups like HRANA have placed the total death toll slightly higher, around 3,500–3,600, with a significant portion being civilians.

The war has caused widespread destruction, displacement, and damage to infrastructure across Iran, with both sides exchanging strikes over several weeks before a temporary ceasefire took hold. This latest death toll figure is likely to feature prominently in ongoing diplomatic efforts and public discourse in Iran as the country assesses the human and material cost of the conflict.
